“I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” – Jeremiah 31:3
Have you ever contemplated God’s love for you? I mean specifically the pure emotion that He feels toward you, aside from providing you with the gift of salvation and blessing you every single day? Every so often, I read a verse or hear a testimony that stops me in my tracks. My heart skips a beat, my breathing becomes shallow and I am overwhelmed with awe and amazement (I’ll be honest- I cry a little, too). The God of the Universe, Creator of Heaven, Earth and everything in between, actually LOVES me and even thinks of me !! At times in my flesh, I think that I am nothing more than a vapor in this world (which I am), disappearing as quickly as I was created (which is also true when comparing a lifetime to eternity), so, therefore, that my life isn’t very important or valuable (that’s where I am wrong). Yet (you and) I mean so much more to God than that!
Is your heart aching to feel loved? Cherished? Are you searching for a sense of purpose and belonging? I want to take a moment to share with you few Scripture verses that speak to the way God feels about us. Read through these passages slowly and deliberately, hearing Our Lord and Savior speaking these words to you directly:
God DELIGHTS and REJOICES over you:
The LORD your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. Zephaniah 3:17
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31
God’s THOUGHTS of you and His PLANS for you are innumerable:
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count. Psalm 40:5
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:17
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
Not only does Jehovah God love you and think about you, He CREATED every detail about you, carefully lining up every element of every moment of your life:
The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. Jeremiah 31:3
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. Psalm 139:16
A man’s steps are established by the LORD, and the LORD delights in his way. Psalm 37:23
The Everlasting God created these words to give us a glimpse of how He feels toward us. I would like to echo Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians when he writes:
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19
I pray that you take time to contemplate that you are indeed a beloved treasure and co-heir with Jesus Christ, and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by Jehovah God Himself!
