There are times when we think life is going in one direction, and in an instant the Lord sends us in another. We find ourselves walking in a dense fog, barely able to see a foot in front of us. Yet we know this is God’s plan, so we step out in faith, praying for Him to provide the lamp unto our feet, and tools we need to navigate the uncharted roads we are about to travel.
If, while we grieve the loss of our intended journey, we choose to surrender to His will, the Lord blesses us with a golden opportunity to travel with Him and experience His love in the most unexpected, amazing ways.
In my latest life detour, He showed me He wanted me to stand Still, Calm, Silent, Peaceful, and watch Him work. That is not easy. I fail often. I find myself worrying, letting fear slip in. I realize I am not fully letting go of the control I think I have to maintain. Again, I ask for His help. This was His creative way of showing up, and holding me up.
Recently, during a training session, the presenter told us to look at a picture and note the first word that came to mind. The image was of a drop of water falling into a large pool of beautiful, blue water. That single drop caused a ripple effect, sending circles out as far as the eye could see. No word came to me. As I listened to the words that came to others, what came to me had nothing to do with the lesson. Silent serenity is what I heard in my head. I was confused.
Later, I watched the video replay, and this is what happened. These verses were popping into my memory so quickly I could not believe it.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 NKJV.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NKJV.
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20 NKJV.
Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22 NKJV.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23:1 NKJV.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, Psalms 92:1-2 NKJV
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 NKJV.
He took me there to renew my strength, bring me joy, and find silent serenity in His word. He let me know to return to what He previously told me; stand Still, Silent, Calm, Peaceful and watch me work.
He is always faithful, even in the smallest details. Capture them!
May the Lord bless you on your journey.
