Stand

Stand

In Ephesians 6:11 God gives us instructions to put on His armor. The result in doing that is stated in verse 11, that we will the be able to STAND against the wiles of the devil. The word STAND in the Greek has several meanings.

#1 ABIDE – It is therefore to abide in Christ as a necessary dwelling place to live continually knowing we are not alone during the battle.

#2 APPOINT – God has a position for us to stand in. Like soldiers are told to hold the position given to them and not to go forward or backward or either side. We are to STAND in the appointed position He has given us & not to move from it.

#3 CONTINUE – To remain standing until we hear differently from Him.

#4 ESTABLISH – Standing on His Word no matter what it looks like.

#5 PERSEVERE – While standing we may get bruised wounded and be in pain but God is able to keep us.

In 2Corinthians 4:8-9, We are troubled on every side yet not distressed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken or cast down or destroyed.

God is able to keep us from falling into the enemy’s plans.

STAND is mentioned four times in the above verses. God has provided the means for the victory over satan. He gives us truth, righteousness, the Gospel, faith, salvation and His Word. As we put on what He has provided and continue to STAND we don’t have to fall. Verse 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Verse 13 Take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to WITHSTAND in the evil day and having done all to STAND.
